"Government to review progress of incubation parks at IITs, says Shri Prakash Javadekar , HRD Minister"

The Human Resource Development Ministry will form a committee to review the progress of the incubation/research parks at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) that have received funds from the government.

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar announced the move during his visit to the research park at IIT Madras on Thursday.

“I will form a committee, which will review the progress of the research parks in other IITs where the central government has given fund. It is important for all other IITs to also replicate the work the research park at IIT Madras is doing. As incubation is the real formula for Make in India,” said Javadekar.

The IITM Research Park model invites entrepreneurs and industry leaders to establish their research and development units at the research park and collaborate with students and faculty members at the institute. It is also home to nearly 140 startups under its incubators. Of these, 32 startups have raised Rs 707 crore from investors. Faculty head Ashok Jhunjhunwala said that the collaboration between academia and industry has seen an increase in participation of faculty members."..Read more at Economictimes
